The radio homebrew and experimenters group will be holding its next monthly evening meeting this coming Tuesday the 4th of November. The meeting is as usual at the residence of Seppo VK2SMA at 14 Pellisier Rd Putney. For those not in the know, Putney is on the north side of the Parramatta River, just east of Ryde. The meeting is a very informal affair and starts at about 7pm and finishes at 9pm, so it will not be late for those people who have to get up the next morning for work. Everyone coming is encouraged to bring along a project they have been working on. There will be some RF power meter heads available for those in attendance and orders will be taken for those who miss out. There will also be an announcement about a major group project that will hopefully be run over the next few months. There are a number of items of test and soldering equipment at these meetings so those attending can work on or test a piece of equipment. If anyone needs a specialised piece of test equipment, then please contact Peter VK2EMU on either 9584-3236 or homebrew@arnsw.org.au and he will see what he can do to arrange for it to be at the meeting. New comers are always welcome, whether they are a seasoned homebrewer or an amateur after a new challenge. See you there. St. George Amateur Radio Society The next meeting of the St. George Amateur Radio Society will be on this coming Wednesday the 4th of November. This meeting will be a special one about 6 metres. 6 metres is a magic band, particularly during the summer months. Parts of the 6 metre band are available for standard licence holders and the full band is available for advanced licence holders. First of all there will be a presentation by Roger Harrison VK2ZRH about 6 metre propagation and operating techniques. Among other things, there will be test equipment to measure how good your 6 metre radio is. This will be a good opportunity to dust off the old rig and get it tested and a new antenna to attach to it. Join or renew your membership and you can enter our guessing competition, with a chance to win prizes including a digital set top box, drawn at the December meeting. Orders will also be taken for the Christmas pie order as fund raising for the Mt. Bindo repeater.
