Geomagnetic activity observed for the Australian Region was quiet to unsettled on the 27th; mostly quiet on the 28th; mostly quiet with some unsettled periods on the 1st; and quiet otherwise. Southern Australian Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies were near predicted, except on the 3rd when frequencies were near predicted to 15 per cent enhanced. Forecast for the 4th to the 10th of July Solar activity should be very low. Geomagnetic activity should be mostly quiet throughout this period with some possibility of isolated unsettled periods on the 4th. Frequencies should be mostly near predicted monthly values. Periods of minor to mild depressions are possible due to weak ionosphere. Now for Club News. Central Coast Amateur Radio Club. To all fellow Amateur Radio members in Australia from the Central Coast Amateur Club. The Club is about to embark on a recruitment program to encourage young members of the population to become members of Amateur Radio. This will be a huge and costly job however if we as members of the wider Amateur Radio group do not encourage new entrants to our hobby, this hobby may well not exist in the future. The next meeting of the Oxley Region Amateur Radio Club Inc. will be the Friday night gathering at 7pm on the 11th of July 2008 in the Port City Bowling Club, Owen Street, Port Macquarie. This is the bowling club in East Port Macquarie, near the beaches. There will be tea, coffee and biscuits after the meeting at a small charge. Members are reminded that membership renewals for the 2008/2009 year fell due on the first of July 2008. Renewals will be gratefully received at the July Friday night gatherings. Members must be financial in order to vote or stand for office at the AGM which will be held on Saturday the 2nd of August. Visitors are always made very welcome at the club’s monthly general meetings at 2pm on the first Saturday of each month, and at the Friday night gatherings at 7pm on the evenings of the second and fourth Fridays of each month. The venue for all these meetings is the Port City Bowling Club which is located in Owen Street, Port Macquarie. There is a lift in the building so there are no access problems for those who may find stairs difficult. The next Club Meeting of the Taree and District Amateur Radio Club Inc, is on the Tuesday the 5th of August, This meeting will be held in the library rooms, of the Taree TAFE College, Montgomery Crescent, Taree. (Western end of Victoria St). All Amateurs and interested visitors are most welcome. It will be great to see everyone there. Taree and District Amateur Radio Club Inc, has a club net each Monday night at 1930hrs on its two metre repeaters, which are permanently linked. The net controller uses the Club call sign VK2FRE. The Club also maintains a 70cm repeater which is in the process of an upgrade, It has been remove from the repeater site for further work and improvement. Work has been done at the club rooms and will be continuing until finished. The toilet space is being enlarged to allow for handicapped access. Removal of a wall revealed much termite damage which is being chased and sprayed. The kitchen and plumbing are being rebuilt to fit less space.
