We are looking at staging a number of DX trips across Australia over the next 18 months with the intention of setting up HF radio sites over long weekends and a long trip with a four week travelling expedition to a number of destinations as part of the 100 year celebration of WIA NSW. If you want to be part of an expedition or a support site or can assist in some other way please get in touch. These trips will need a team of dedicated people if they are to be successful. If you are an F call, a Full call or somewhere in between then this is the chance of a lifetime. We can’t do it without help so we would be interested to hear from anyone who would like to participate. If you would like to be part of fun then call Beth VK2AO on 0413155531. The actual location will be publicised a week before the event, but we are able to say that it will be 3-4 hours south of Sydney. Volunteers are still required, so far we have the bare minimum. Please contact either Mal Alexander VK2YVA or Julian Dryden VK2TED for further information. The Q60 Enduro is scheduled for the weekend of 19-20th July, but it is not possible for the Central Coast Region to run it. If there are any volunteers, including an Event Commander, then please contact Dave Horsfall VK2KFU as soon as possible. There is a possibility that WICEN members could be involved in an EPIRB locating exercise; in the meantime, could those members with fox-hunting experience please contact Kevin Dawson VK2CKD. The Shahzada 400km Horse Enduro is on again (barring another outbreak of equine flu), and it will be held over 25-29th August. There will be more details in later broadcasts. Other events confirmed for this year include the Barrington Tops SAREX (Search and Rescue exercise) over the weekend of 18-19th October (unfortunately the same weekend as JOTA), and the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic over the weekend of 1st-2nd November.
