Max VK2AFE Max Bowey VK2AFE and his wife have been ill for some time and have spent the last few weeks in hospital. Whilst his wife is staying with their daughter, Max is safe and comfortable in a Nursing Home for a period while he recovers. Max has been a familiar face at Parramatta and Dural for as long as we can remember and a keen member of the Radio Experimenters and Homebrew Group. He was a regular visitor and volunteer worker while the Division was at the Wigram Street QTH. When Brian VK2TOX visited him on Thursday he was getting stuck into his lunch and welcomed news of his mates. He was especially happy to hear of the messages from them, wishing him and his wife a speedy recovery. He is an avid listener to radio talkback shows and gets his daily dose of radio by listening to a Broadcast Band receiver fitted with headphones. Brian promised to go visit him again next week and let him know about all the stuff he missed out on at today's Trash and Treasure. he is also looking forward to details of the afternoon Homebrew meeting. Max is at the Garden View Nursing Home, Merrylands. If you can spare the time he would welcome visitors, but give the home a call on 02 9632 2785 first to check on visiting times. Note: Brian VK2TOX visits Max on a regular basis and his mates in the Homebrew Group are currently working on getting him back on air, even if only to participate in the ARNSW Sunday broadcasts. Last week he was quite bright but suffering badly from his arthritis in the shoulders. Update 23rd November 2008 - Max VK2AFE MOVES
TO NEW NURSING HOME.
